Portadown 1XV were due to host Ballymoney in the Towns Cup, but unfortunately the game fell foul of the weather. The same fate befell Portadown College who were due to host Friends School Lisburn in the schools cup. Both fixtures will be re-arranged for later in the season.
Portadown 2XV hit the road to Omagh,a long trip but well worth it when the result goes your way. The 2XV came back with a 8-24 win to put them top of the table with a game in hand over 2nd placed Ballymena 3s.
Lurgan 1XV welcomed Queen’s 2XV to Pollock Park where they held off the students to a slender 22-19 win for the home side.
Lurgan U14 secured a narrow victory away to Larne U14’s. Coming out 12-17 after scores by Archie Doogan Reuben Wellwood and Ross Beattie.
An excellent performance by Jack Ferguson for man of the match after a great display by our backrow.
The lads all stuck to the task and fought hard to hold out a determined Larne team in the second half.
In the Energia All Ireland League, A Rob Lyttle try at the end was enough to secure the Bonus Point win for Banbridge 1XV who welcomed Corinthians to Rifle Park. It was a fantastic 27-0 for the home side and a long way round for the Galway men, who to their credit and despite the terrible conditions, made their way across the country to fulfill the fixture.
